Asa Hutchinson Announces Endorsement From Major League Baseball Player Torii Hunter

Little Rock - Major League Baseball player and Pine Bluff native Torii Hunter announced his support for Asa Hutchinson in the Arkansas governor’s race on Tuesday. The endorsement came by video to Hutchinson supporters gathered for a rally at Arvest Park in Springdale.

“Hello everyone,” Hunter says in the video, “I’m Torii Hunter with the Detroit Tigers.  Welcome to Arvest Park.  I’m sorry I couldn’t be there today to show my support for Asa.  I grew up in Pine Bluff and I know how important it is to have faith, family and community in order to be successful in life.  Asa also understands these Arkansas values.  It’s voting time and I hope you will go and vote for Asa Hutchinson for governor.  God bless.”

Hutchinson welcomed the endorsement, saying, “I’m proud to call Torii a supporter.  He represents Arkansas values, like responsibility and a strong work ethic.  As we focus more on economic opportunity and job growth, these values are exemplified by Torii Hunter and are important to every part of the state, whether you’re from Pine Bluff or Rogers, Jonesboro or Texarkana.  I’m grateful to have Torii’s support in this race.”

Hutchinson also noted that Hunter is in the middle of baseball season and took time out of his hectic schedule to offer his support, saying “I’m grateful that Torii believes in our vision for a bright future for Arkansas.  I’m grateful he took valuable time to make his support public.”
