Wednesday, Feb 25, 2009LITTLE ROCK, AR— Secretary of State Charlie Daniels today announced the 2009 spring statewide notary public seminar schedule, which includes about 30 sessions spanning around 20 counties from March 4 through June 10. The seminars are offered free-of-charge to approximately 56,000 current and any aspiring notaries public around the state. The seminars, conducted by the Secretary of State’s Business and Commercial Services (BCS) division, have provided continuing education to around 3,000 notaries public in Arkansas since August 2005. The statewide series supplements the year-round classes held at the BCS office in Little Rock the second Wednesday of each month. “I hope the thousands of notaries public doing business in Arkansas everyday take advantage of these free professional training opportunities offered by my office,” said Secretary Daniels. “These sessions provide comprehensive and up-to-date information on legislation and issues affecting the state’s notaries public.”The 90-minute course covers the application process, jurisdiction, and powers of a notary public. It also includes information on administering oaths; electronic notarization; and taking acknowledgements, affidavits, and depositions.
